The Podtatran museum in Poprad

The Podtatran Museum in Poprad was founded by the Carpathian Society in 1876. Due to disagreements surrounding the location of the museum between Veľká and Poprad, the Tatra Museum in the Great and the Carpathian Museum in Poprad opened in 1882. In 1945, the two museums merged into one called the Tatra Museum (since 1961, Podtatranské museum).

Newly opened renovated premises with the intention of presenting the story of the continuous settlement of the city of Poprad and its surroundings, present presenting means. The exhibition, with its content, structure, breakdown, will provide the visitor with essential information about the social, political, economic, spiritual, cultural and natural environment of the city of Poprad and its surroundings from the beginning to the present. With its contents, the subjects presented correspond to the thematic composition of the collections of the Podtatranský Museum in Poprad.

During the public holidays is the Podtatran museum in Poprad CLOSED. If you are interested in a group tour of more than 8 people, it is necessary to report at least one working day in advance. If you are interested in taking a tour outside the opening hours, groups of more than 15 people can be informed about the entry options:

  • Children, students, retirees, ZŤP, ISIC card holders – 2,00 €,
  • Family Ticket – 10,00 €,
  • Children up to 6 years old, ZPP escort, ZMS card, ICOM – free of charge.
